WHO:
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQIA+SB identifying artists (dancers, musicians, actors, writers etc…)
WHAT:
After a successful community consultation in 2022, BlaQ Aboriginal Corporation and Fruit Box Theatre (thanks to funding from the Pride Foundation Australia) are holding a second consultation to find out what support First Nations LGBTQIA+SB artists need to grow their artistic practice.
This consultation will form the basis upon which BlaQ and Fruit Box will continue to develop their First Nations LGBTQIA+SB Live Performance Program; with the eventual goal being a Queer First Nations development series that results in a piece of performance that celebrates Queer First Nations stories and talent.
Facilitated by Dylan Van Den Berg (playwright, Whitefella Yella Tree) this consultation will be an open discussion about how LGBTQIA+SB First Nations artists tell stories, what barriers they face to engaging in mainstream performance culture, and how a development series can best support their creative practice.
Catering provided.
PAYMENT:
All participants will be paid a $25 voucher in compensation for their time.
ACCESS:
BlaQ’s offices at NCIE are located on the ground floor. They are wheelchair accessible via gate on the corner of George Street and Phillip Street.
This consultation will also be accessible via Zoom.
